This album showcases Punah Gabasiane – Molale’s personal, musical growth both lyrically and vocally. It portrays and embraces 3 core areas: Her Life, Botswana Culture and Nurturing Existing Botswana Talents. About her life she wrote celebratory songs for her loved ones. She also re-arranged two folk songs Mmabolaisa and Tshetsana. It cannot be over emphasized how as a country we need to promote, preserve, celebrate and share our culture with our own children and the world at large. In terms of Nurturing Existing talents she featured a newly yet talented Botswana youth band called Ephiphonic and together they came up with the masterpiece and title track TORO.
Punah Gabasiane-Molale is a Motswana, Afro-Jazz singer who decided to seriously pursue her love of dancing and performing when she joined the Ditholwana Traditional Troupe as a lead singer and traditional dancer. With the troupe, Punah first experienced the pride of representing her country on the international stage as she performed at the SADC Music Festival in Harare, Zimbabwe. With the troupe not only did Punah nature her passion for dance but she also discovered her unique vocal ability as well. Punah’s rich talent was further spotted by KTM choir who recruited her to be part of their renowned group. As her love for music grew , she began spreading her wings to perform in other areas and here including being a cabaret singer at the Grand Palm Casino and Resort hotel and other hotels country-wide. Her rise to stardom was birthed through the release of her gospel album and the ‘Iyoo nna ‘song which became a hit and gained massive airplay.
