The Nako Classic is the introduction timepiece to Nako Timepieces. It’s a quintessential timepiece in the Three Dikgosi edition and as an introductory product to brand Nako. We designed the timepiece to be bold, sleek, contemporary, and classic with a touch of timeless elegance. The basis of the Classic lies in exemplifying how brand Nako is powered by merging innovation and luxury watchmaking that is proudly Botswana and by extension, proudly African.
The origins of the Classic lies in the beauty of the Kalahari Desert ( set of the notable comedy ‘The Gods must be crazy’; a 1980 film written and directed by Jamie Uys and distributed by 20th Century Fox) which covers most parts of the country Brand Nako was founded, the Republic of Botswana. This desert is a large semi-arid sandy savanna extending 900,000 square kilometres, and covering most of Botswana and some parts of South Africa and Namibia. The Bantu are found in this area, from early migrations, the Kho-San are natives of this land.
The colour of the ‘Classic’ was inspired by the earthy colors of this Kalahari Desert which range from shades and tones of brown; a natural and neutral color, the color of earth, wood, stone, which symbolizes wholesomeness, reliability, elegance, security, healing, home, grounding, foundations, stability, warmth, and honesty.
